SAR, the full name is Specific Absorption Rate, means the electromagnetic wave absorbed or consumed by human tissue of unit mass. The unit is W/Kg or mw/g. It refers to the measured value of energy absorption rate when human body exposed to the radio frequency electromagnetic field.
SAR test mainly aim at wireless products of which the antenna is within 20cm to people. It’s used to protect us from suffering from the hurt by wireless equipment with exceeded RF transmission value. Not all the products with wireless transmission antenna away from human body within 20cm need to do SAR test, Every country has other test method named MPE evaluation based on the products meeting the conditions above but have small power.
SAR test procedures and lead time
There are mainly 3 parts on SAR test: tissue validation-system validation-DUT test. Generally speaking, sales people will evaluate the test lead time according to the product spec. and frequency. Besides, need to consider about test report lead time, certification lead time. The more frequencies need to be tested, the longer time needed for the test.
AGC testing company has 2 sets of SAR test equipments which can shorten test time and meet the requirements for more clients’ test requirements including urgency item test requirements. Besides, the test frequency covers 30MHz-6GHz which nearly covers and can test all the products in the market. Especially to the 5G rapid popularization of Wi-Fi products in the market and low frequency-136-174MHz products, AGC can help clients solve the test and certification problems well and make products enter international markets smoothly.
Different products in different countries have different requirements on SAR limit and test frequencies
